News: Reading in St. John’s, Nov 26

November 23, 2006

I’ll be reading on Sunday, November 26th, at 2:00pm in the Masonic Temple, St. John’s as part of the ongoing Letterpress Association of Newfoundland and Labrador Wayzgoose.

Recently a group of letterpress printers, book artists and book collectors began gathering in St. John’s to share their love of beautiful and boundary-breaking books. Although we’re still debating a name for the group—the Letterpress Association of Newfoundland and Labrador seems to be our working title—we are already holding our first large public event. From November 20th to 26th, we’ll be welcoming acclaimed wood engraver and book artist, George Walker, to St. John’s, and hosting a variety of events around town to celebrate the history, traditions and innovations of books. There will also be displays of historical and contemporary letterpress work at the Rooms and the Centre for Newfoundland Studies.

All events are open to the public, some have entrance or registration fees. Pre-registration for workshops is required.

I’ll be reading from the artisan volume A Set of Deadly Negotiations, published by Frog Hollow Press.
